Meriski Chalet Wine List 2017/18

Food and wine are fundamental ingredients to an excellent chalet holiday and as such we choose our wines carefully to complement our food and for their high quality.

We’ve been working with Boyer Wines, a Languedoc winemaker, for the last eight years. They produce an excellent range of wines, which are all natural and come from organic or sustainable viticulture.

Huw Davies, our Managing Director, visited their vineyards in France over the summer for a tour and a tasting and then Paul Boyer came to Cirencester in October with a selection of his wines, for our Meriski HQ and Resort Management teams to sample.

It was both an enjoyable and informative evening, accompanied by excellent canapés by Cirencester Chef, Bob Parkinson, from Made by Bob

After much deliberation and discussion we are proud to present the wines our guests can look forward to on our Chalet Wine List for Winter 2017/18:

White Wines

Sauvignon Blanc Alicia 2016
Named after Paul’s daughter, the delicate and zingy Sauvignon Alicia expresses notes of citrus fruits, pineapple and fresh flowers. The best grapes are carefully selected to achieve an elegant and pure wine. 

Les Petites Cigales Blanc 2016
Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier work together to express the flavours of their fruit through peach, lemon peel, fennel and acacia notes. An elegant and refined wine.

Barronnie de Coussergues 2016
80% Colombard and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, light, mineral and fruity. Aromas of green apple, lime leaf and fresh pineapple.

Claude Val Blanc 2016
Blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Chasan and Viognier aged in stainless steel tanks, which give more control over the fermentation process. With a pale colour and aromas of apricot, fennel, walnut, lemon and white flowers, Claude Val Blanc is a medium bodied and fruity wine.

Red Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon Domaine Saint Preignan 2016
100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in stainless steel tanks. A light to medium bodied wine with aromas of green pepper, red berries, leather and raspberry jelly.
 
Claude Val Rouge 2016
A blend of Merlot, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Medium bodied with aromas of soft spices, ripe cherry, raspberry, plum and liquorice.

Le Vin Naturel Rouge VV 2014
80% Syrah, 20% Grenache. This red wine is full of personality, power and elegance. It reveals an intense bouquet of red berries, eucalyptus, chocolate and Mediterranean spices. 

Domaine La Ferrandiere Reserve Prestige Rouge 2015
60% Merlot and 40% Syrah aged in oak barrels. Medium to full bodied with rich aromas of dark chocolate, ripe black fruits, thyme and liquorice.


As part of our Concierge Service, we will also have a Cellar Wine list, available at an additional cost, with a larger selection of wines, including well-known winemakers from Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne, which guests can choose from.
