About Méribel

Méribel sits in the Les Allues Valley at the heart of the world’s largest skiing area, Les Trois Vallees. Méribel and Mottaret are the two main resorts in this valley and both are extremely popular with British Skiers, possibly because the resort was founded by a British man called Peter Lindsay in 1938. However the vast skiing area and the unspoilt alpine charm of Méribel are the most likely reasons for its popularity and why it continues to draw experienced skiers from all over the world. Méribel is a very pretty resort unlike some of its purpose built rivals, Méribel has retained a traditional feel with nearly all of the buildings being quaint, timber-framed chalets in a Savoyard wood.

Méribel has an abundance of boutique shops and a good selection of après ski bars and restaurants. The bi weekly street market is worth a visit for local produce and souvenirs. Méribel spreads from the Mussillon area at 1450m to Le Rond point at 1700m this means the village is quite spread out but there is also a regular bus service if you need to get about when not on skis.
